Picture of Downtown Moncton During Heavy Snowstorm Warning

So far in 2009 we have had little snow to hit Moncton but this one is a messy one. The wet heavy snow has caused power outages for Moncton and parts of Riverview. On top of power going out for many NB Power customers there was plenty of accidents and people going into the ditches on the highways. It is estimated that we could get up to 25 cm of snow including high winds, freezing rain and a mixture of rain as well. I urge all people who have to go out to drive with caution and reduce their speed. The roads are slippery and snow packed.

We’ve been lucky so far this winter season until now. What does mother nature have in store for us in 2010. Will we keep getting mild temperatures or will we get much more snow for Moncton. For all those people who love to ski they will be wishing for much more snow and colder temperatures. Myself I can’t wait till spring! Till then enjoy the snow and we’ll find out how much snow we will get soon.

It’s still snowing and we have about 15 cm down and more coming. It’s Sunday January 3rd, 2010 at about 9:30pm and and still storming after a short break today. Looks like we’ll have another messy ride to work on our Monday morning. Snow, snow and more snow hitting Moncton!

Well it hasn’t even been a week since Moncton got it’s first snowstorm of the season and now we have a heavy snowfall amounts coming with about 15-25cm of snow. This latest winter snowstorm is going to be a nasty one. Moncton is not only expected to get some heavy snowfall amounts but it will also bring a mixture of snow, rain and freezing rain by Thursday morning. This will bring some nasty driving conditions and everyone in Moncton should drive with caution. This will be the 2nd snowstorm of the season for Moncton and many people predict that we are in for a winter to remember with all kinds of snow.

On Sunday Dec. 6, we had our first winter snowstorm in Moncton and ended up with 13 cm of snow that fell as reported by The Moncton International Airport. This latest one coming this evening is a much bigger system coming in and expected to leave Moncton in quite a mess.  For all the people who wanted a white Christmas, we have it! All the mild temperatures are behind us now and Moncton should be aware that winter has arrived in full force. More snow in Moncton leads us to believe we could be in for a very long winter. The 2nd snowstorm of the season for 2009 has arrived! Snowfall warning for Southeast New Brunswick which will bring some pretty nasty weather conditions. Drive safe and adjust your driving as the roads will become very slippery when it turns over from snow to freezing rain, then rain. We are also expected to have strong winds between 40-70km/hr and up to 100 km/hr winds in some locations causing blowing snow. This latest snowstorm will most likely cause power interuptions in some areas. Winter has arrived!
