Police now have confirmed that the two men were drinking and apparently wanted to surprise a friend they knew which was working at the time at the zoo. The names of the trespassers are Trevor James Wearmouth and Thomas Anthony Brycehart who now have been charged with one count of each of petty trespassing.

It is still not confirmed on the state of one of the charged men on whether or not he will lose an arm but we do know that he suffered severe injuries to the arm when Vitali, the Siberian Tiger at the Calgary Zoo pulled his arm in the cage. Police would not disclose that information due to privacy laws.

Hopefully then man who suffered severe injuries will have a full recovery but the next time these two men go to the zoo they will respect the animals and what they are capable of and attend the zoo during normal hours of operations. It is unbelievable what the effects of alcohol can do to ones state of mind. Definitely a dumb moment but hopefully they learned a lesson. Respect the law and respect the wild animals! Tigers are in a cage for a reason!

Yesterday a two-year-old male tiger known as Vitali attacked 2 men in the early morning hours at the Calgary Zoo. Two 27 year old males climbed over one of the fences that enclosed the giant tigers. I mean who in the right mind would do something like this. Do they not know that these tigers are very large cats, very dangerous and can kill people in one leap?? Calgary Zoo officials noticed the men on one of their security cameras at 1:03 am. At the time the male tiger known as Vitali, attacked the men. The attack didn’t last long but was long enough to cause severe injuries but not life threatening. One of the men may lose an arm as its believed that one of the claws hooked a man pulling his arm into his cage through the fence.

It is very unfortunate that this has happened to these 2 men but they did break and enter into the Calgary Zoo. they shouldn’t have been there in the first place. It makes me beleive as well that this isn’t the first time they’ve done this. It is reported that the men knew one of the security guards at the zoo. Police are considering break and enter or trespassing charges against the two males.

I know we all do dumb things once and a while but this is one that they’ll remember for ever. I know I seen a tiger on YouTube before that started running after a camera crew in Africa and the amount of power and speed they have is incredible. I do hope that the guy doesn’t lose his arm and is able to have a full recovery from this tiger attack. It makes me wonder if any alcohol or drugs may have been involved for these two men to do this.I know the Calary Zoo can’t stop these break and enters from happening but I wonder if they’re are any other precautionary measures they can take. The men were lucky as they are two fences, one which keeps the general public away from the main tiger fence. This tiger attack could have been worse. I think those two men should have watched Animal Attacks on TV to fully know how dangerous these animals can be.

You can view a news report here about the tiger attack at the Calgary Zoo.

Here is a video of just how dangerous these animals can be. This was a video report of an escaped Siberian Tiger that escaped the San Fransisco Zoo on Christmas Day years ago killing one man and injuring two others. Take a look at the story if you don’t recall it.

Have any opinions or thoughts on this tiger attack at the Calgary Zoo? Should the men be charged or do you think they learned a lesson the hard way? Is there anything else you think that Calgary Zoo could do to prevent such instances?
