Movember first began in Melbourne Australia and has now grown worldwide with nearly 1.1 million people helping support the awareness, education and research towards prostate cancer. In 2010 nearly 119,000 Canadians participated in Movember and showed their support for a great cause. In Canada men and women helped raise 22.3 million dollars. Since Movember first started back in 2003 people worldwide have raised over 176 million dollars.

To all those Canadians who participated in Movember November 1st this year, congratulations! It’s through everyone’s efforts where we all can make a difference. Remember when prostate cancer is caught early men have a greater chance for treatment. This Movember movement for men’s health worldwide is making a difference and saving lives. If you haven’t joined for Movember this year, you can always donate to show your support for prostate cancer research. You don’t have to be a participant in order to show your support, donations is another way you can help contribute towards a great cause.

All funds raised by Movember is used to support Prostate Cancer Canada and the Movember Foundation. Prostate Cancer Canadauses the Movember funds for the development of programs related to awareness, public education, advocacy and support of those affected, as well as research into the prevention, detection, treatment and cure of prostate cancer.

It’s been a long grueling process for the family of Michael Jackson, awaiting the decision to find out whether or not Conrad Murray would be found guilty or not in the death of their son and brother Michael.

Conrad Murray was Michael’s well know, in-house doctor, who actively treated Michael Jackson.  Before his death, Jackson reportedly had been administered propofol, along with two anti-anxiety benzodiazepines; lorazapam and midazolam.  Law enforcement officials investigated Jackson’s personal physician Conrad Murray and on February 8, 2010, Murray pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter, and was released after posting a US $75,000 bail.  His trial started on September 27, 2011.  Conrad Murray will likely loose his medical license and may serve up to 4 years in prison.

Michael Jackson the “King of Pop” who once moon-walked above the music world, was 50 years old when he as found dead in his home in Los Angeles after suffering cardiac arrest.  Later, an autopsy showed Jackson died from an overdose of an anesthetic propofol. 

Michael Jackson was laid to rest in a mausoleum at the Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park in California on September 3, 2009.

Michael Jackson left three children, Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr, Paris Katherine Michael Jackson and Prince Michael Jackson II.  Who are now being raised by his parents.

With alot of patience of the world, I am sure that the verdict does not come as a surprise to the millions that know of Michael Jackson and his case.  You can now rest in peace.

The 33 trapped Chilean miners were brought to the surface in a capsule known as the ” Phoenix“. The capsule was only 21 inches wide and it took approximately 30 minutes per person. The whole operation took about 22 hours to pull up all the trapped miners. The estimated cost of the rescue operation is close to 20 million dolllars. After every miner was pulled to safety tears of joy was among everyone. The miners have been trapped underground since August 5th, 2010 after the mine collapsed. After 17 days they were discovered alive and then a rescue operation was begun. Now the families are reunited after this long awaited rescue that has inspired the world. The 33 Chilean miners trapped are now free!

Team Canada Wins Gold Medal Game vs USA in Men's Hockey Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics

Sidney Crosby’s golden overtime goal was a sweet one after having a gold medal within reach during regulation time. Team Canada allowed team USA to score with only 24 seconds left by Zach Parise to tie it up makes this victory that much better. Sidney managed to get the winning goal past star goalie Ryan Miller during OT. What a great hockey game! How Ironic is is that Sidney Crosby won the game for Canada after going the last 3 games without a point. When it all mattered Sid The Kid scores the golden goal that means the most. Now Sidney Crosby has a Stanley Cup and now an Olympic Gold Medal in Men’s Hockey at only 22 years old.

Goals for Team Canada were Corey Perry and Johnathan Toews during regulation time and for US it was Ryan Kesler and Zach Parise with only 24 seconds left in regulation time to score for Team USA to force overtime.

Now on Sunday Team Canada will face off against the US to see who will win the gold medal game. This rematch game between Canada and the US  is one that many people have waited for and we’re all glad to see these two hockey teams square off once again at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver 2010. Many people didn’t think the US would make it to the gold medal game in hockey but they are the only undefeated team in the tournament. They’ve already beat Canada once so I’m sure the rematch will be different as Canada looks to take gold!

It should be an interesting game and hopefully our men’s ice hockey team will capture a spot in the gold medal game. We’ll have to wait and see what happens as we all watch on.

Congratulations to Team Canada’s Women Hockey Team! They’ve now won 3 straight gold medals in the Olympics in 2002, 2006 and now in 2010. Now the men need to win gold medal for Canada. So far for the mens hockey team it looks like it will be a re-match against the USA. The women have won gold, now it’s time for the men to take gold as well and take home another gold medal in hockey for Canada.

 Canada has waited a long time to see the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and sad to see this terrible luge accident take place. Everyone sends their deepest condolences to Nodar’s family in this very difficult time. This was going to be Nodar Kumaritashvili’s first time in the Winter Olympics in 2010.
