11 Children Get Double Dose Of H1N1 Flu Shots In Brampton, Ontario Nurse Still Working!

You all may have heard that 11 children in Brampton Ontario received a double dose of the H1N1 flu shot several days ago. I have just learned that this nurse is still working! Children under 6 years old are to receive half of the adult dose which is 0.25 ml while adults receive o.50 ml. After 21 days kids are to return and get the second dose of the H1N1 flu shot vaccine. Well this nurse in Brampton, Ontario gave a double dose to 11 children and yet she is still working. This shocks and amazes me! She should not be giving out anymore flu shots period as one mistake is not acceptable but its only once but to do this to 11 children and yet still be allowed to vaccinate people with the H1N1 flu shot is wrong.

One father of one of the children in which his son received a double dose of H1N1 flu shot was shocked to see her still working. I would be too! How can they allow her to keep working after 11 mistakes? Experts do say that it shouldn’t hurt the children but it was set up for a reason for children only to get half a dose. Why?

You know when we go to the hospital or a public health office people generally take it for granted that they will perform their job right. People should always ask questions and be on top of these situations and yes second guess a doctor or nurse, why not? It’s your body! With all the effects and media controversy over people getting the H1n1 flu shot to begin with over whether people should get it or not and now this happens. Parents of the 11 children have every right to be upset and mad as a double dose of a drug can cause serious effects in young children. I am outraged to see that this nurse is still giving out H1N1 flu shots! How can she still be allowed to work at H1N1 clinics in Brampton Ontario?

H1N1 Found In Pets! Dogs and Cats Can Catch The Swine Flu!

Many pet owners have been wondering can my pet such as dogs and cats catch the H1N1 virus (swine flu) ? The answer is yes! There are reports from people where their household pets were showing signs and symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus. Pet owners originally had the flu and it was then passed onto their pets such as dogs, cats and even ferrets. Most people didn’t even realize that their pets could be infected with the swine flu virus but now we all know.

So what do pet owners do when their dogs and cats catch the H1N1 virus? What you should do is take your pet to your local veterinarian and seek treatment. That is your best choice to seek medical attention for your pet.

If you think about it, pets catching the H1N1 may sound weird to some but not really. The H1N1 virus originated from pigs, animals, and then it was passed onto humans. Now it is being passed on from humans to your pets at home. Think about it if we catch the H1N1 swine flu and we pet our dogs or cats and they lick our hands, it makes perfect sense how it is transmitted to them. I have to admit when I first heard of pets getting the H1N1 virus it sounded weird to me but after thinking about it, it’s not at all. This swine flu pandemic is affecting everyone even pets now. Pretty soon we’ll be having long line ups at veterinarian clinics so their pet can get the H1N1 flu shot. Is there even one for pets that they can get?

For all you pet owners out there make sure you wash your hands regularly to try and prevent the spread of H1N1 not only in the public but to your pets as well. Another key point to remember is to watch your pets for any signs or symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus. Lots of people have pets so I wonder how fast it will spread among them as well. This H1N1 pandemic is really affecting many people and I now its infecting our pets too. Crazy!

Canada Will Receive 1.8 Million Doses Of H1N1 Vaccine Next Week!

Well finally a bit of good news! Canada will receive 1.8 million doses of the H1N1 vaccine next week consisting of 1 million containing the adjuvant and then 800,000 of the adjuvant free version for pregnant women. I know the Federal Government has been scrutinized heavily over how they are handling this H1N1 pandemic as they have been unable to have enough supply for the demand. Last week the manufacturer did not supply enough H1N1 vaccine as promised from the producer GlaxoSmithKline Inc. Why would Canada solely rely on one supplier of H1N1 vaccine instead of having a backup plan or another supplier to make sure this wouldn’t happen? It just doesn’t make sense! Although the good news is we will receive 1.8 million doses of H1N1 vaccine sometime next week.

Now schools are reporting many cases of H1N1 and it’s growing fast and it will continue to do so. In a press conference Dr. Eilish Cleary, NB chief medical officer of health said that she would predict that close to 2000 people in New Brunswick have H1N1 and it would continue to grow. Although there are only over a couple hundred confirmed cases of H1N1 they predict for every one confirmed case there could be 5 up to 10 more cases that are not confirmed. Dr. Cleary did say that more cases of H1N1 are being shown sooner then expected and just shows that its spreading.

So far H1N1 has caused hospitalizations across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI. There are 21 cases of H1N1 hopitalizations in Nova Scotia, 18 in New Brunswick and 15 in PEI. Most of the people being infected with the H1N1 virus are kids under 2, pregnant women and older people with health conditions.

In Nova Scotia, Dr. Robert Strang, Chief Medical Officer of Health admitted that tough decisions needed to be made for the priority groups, those who will get the H1N1 vaccine. It’s been very tough on him and his colleagues but they are trying the best that they can. With the recent news of Canada getting 1.8 million doses of H1N1 vaccine is good news they are hoping for as much as they can get. So far in Nova Scotia there are 377 reported cases of H1N1 and schools continue to show high absenteeism rates. Some schools were showing anywhere from 10% to as high as 30-45%. Dr. Strang said to the School Board that it’s their decision on when they believe that they should close down the schools due to H1N1 to help prevent the spread.

It is great that we are getting the 1.8 million doses of H1N1 vaccine early next week hopefully but it is not nearly enough as we need right at this time. Public Health Officers are hoping to be able to expand the H1N1 vaccinations into other priority groups but they need to wait until they know how much each individual province will receive for their portion of the H1N1 vaccines.

On other news their is a report that states that Canada is looking for another supplier to try and get more H1N1 vaccine quicker. We’ll see how this turns out but seems like they are now trying to make things better as we all know how H1N1 clinics have been being run and the lack of vaccine we’ve all seen. The general public is getting frustrated and now they are trying to correct this issue as they see how fast the H1N1 flu virus is spreading. Hopefully they can correct it fast enough now!

Moncton Schools Should Be Closed Until Kids Get H1N1 Vaccines!

Enough is enough! I think like many parents out there that Moncton schools or all schools who haven’t had and can’t get the H1N1 vaccine for their kids should be closed until there is enough supply. Why risk it as so many people are getting sick with the H1N1 flu. Close Moncton schools until kids get the H1N1 vaccine!

I just wrote the other day about how the number of cases of H1N1 in Moncton would double each and every day, although I don’t know the exact number but you all see people sick everywhere. Schools are reporting heavy absenteeism of 10% up to 30% of kids absent from school. These numbers are high but what do they mean? Lets put it this way, in Nova Scotia they reported that over 6000 kids in the Halifax area were absent from school. That is crazy! Over 175 schools roughly out of like 430 schools in Nova Scotia are reporting over a 10% absenteeism. Kids are getting the flu, is is the H1N1 flu virus, we don’t know, but yes there are cases of children with H1N1.

What should parents do? Keep kids home from school until the H1N1 vaccine is ready? I know I think parents should, as many kids are getting sick and the Government is way behind on this H1N1 pandemic. The heavy absenteeism seen in schools could be a mixture of children being sick with the regular flu, the H1N1 flu, parents worried and keeping their kids home and children playing their parents just to stay home from school. Regardless whatever the reason is, the H1N1 is here and parents are taking measures into their own hands for the safety of their kids. Many parents are suggesting that Moncton schools in our area be closed until their is enough vaccines to give to the young children. I totaly agree! Why keep feeding the H1N1 pandemic rather then isolating the situation. Keep the kids home until the Governement finds out when they will have enough to go around. If it’s two weeks then isn’t it worth the safety of our children rather then covering up how many cases there are actually at school? Keep the kids home and solve the lack of H1N1 vaccine and try and keep this pandemic under control. Don’t you recall in Mexico when the swine flu hit, they actually closed down business’s for a week to try and isolate and control it. If things are not done the number of sick people with H1N1 is bound to rise. Keep kids home from school, solve the lack of H1N1 vaccine problem and get things done quickly.

The simple thing to do is :

Close the schools to slow the spread of the H1N1 virus!

Your not alone on this issue! Many people strongly believe that schools should be closed to slow the spread of this H1N1 flu virus. I agree! This H1N1 is a pandemic and strong actions need to be taken to control this growing issue. Voice your opinion and what you think should be done! So far over 168,103 people think that schools should be closed on a Facebook group ” Close the schools to slow the spread of the H1N1 virus! ” so you can see many people are strongly thinking this should be done. With so many people (students, teachers, parents and coaches) falling ill with this flu I think it’s only logic to close the schools. Schools are the perfect place to spread this flu and cause and uncontrollable outbreak. I’m no doctor but smart enough to realize how keeping school running is may not be the best thing in our situation. Besides with more than 50% of student are staying home causing them to fall behind and teacher to slow progress in class. Better to stop and wait for the rest of the student to recover then continue. To make up for the time lost the school boards could take a week out of summer and cut little bits out of other holidays.

H1N1 Clinics, Lack of H1N1 Vaccine For Moncton New Brunswick Canada

Now its well confirmed that there is a lack of H1N1 vaccine not only in Moncton New Brunswick but all of Canada. For something that they said there would be plenty of H1N1 vaccine to go around for the H1N1 flu virus seems like it’s not the case. They’ve been urging people to get vaccinated for quite a while, now they are turning away people, postponing H1N1 clinics not only in Moncton but everywhere. Now they are only giving the H1N1 flu shot to children under 6 and to parents of children 6 months and younger and pregnant women. H1N1 is here but what is the Government doing about it. The Public Health Department of Canada hasn’t been doing a good job so far at all, with one making sure there was enough H1N1 vaccine and that the clinics we’re well planned and organized but failed in both cases.

On CTV News today the Public Health Minister for Nova Scotia kept on beating around the bush by questions from Steve Murphy. The question I liked is when Steve Murphy asked her, ” Did you get the H1N1 vaccine yet.” She responded, ” No I did not, I need to wait for my priority group to come around.” I laughed as you know she did get it but she cannot say it as right now they are only vaccinating people for H1N1 in certain priority groups. If she would of said she received the H1N1 vaccine there would of been many peeved off people as the public knows there is a lack of H1N1 vaccine. This is by far one of the worst action plans that they’ve ever had to fight against this H1N1 flu virus. They’ve had all kinds of time to make sure that these problems we are seeing today should not have happened. The H1N1 flu has been known about for a long time and they should not be seeing these problems with lack of vaccine being shown today. I speak not only for myself but many people how this was very unorganized and planned. There should have been a sufficient supply of the H1N1 vaccine to go around and there should have been plenty right at the beginning. We’re behind and the H1N1 pandemic in Moncton is growing faster then people are being immunized. For something they’ve had so much time to discuss and plan they are failing the public and people have every right to worry. Now the general public not in priority groups need to wait till mind November to late November to get a chance at getting the H1N1 flu shot vaccine. This is ridiculous!

Another point to make about how many cases of H1N1 in Moncton and surrounding areas that are being reported are not true at all. Don’t believe everything you see on the news and from the public health department. Remember they are the ones that said there would be plenty of H1N1 vaccine to go around. Just recently it was reported that there were 5 cases of H1N1 in Moncton, there’s a lot more then that. How do I know that because I was at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday for my wife. No she doesn’t have the H1N1 flu virus as she was in for her back as she could not walk and was bedridden all week but I seen with my own eyes what’s going on at the hospital due to this H1N1. There’ s a lot of sick people there with the H1N1 and they are making people who are coughing to wear a mask and are going in the special room they have designated for suspected cases of H1N1.

While we were walking into the hospital we over heard one person talking to another saying well I am confirmed with H1N1. Then once we got in there the emergency room at the Moncton Hospital it was packed. I am not saying this to scare everyone but they are not really showing people the real facts about what is going on in Moncton. The public has the right to know and they are keeping the amount of cases of H1N1 being reported down to prevent riots and mass panic at H1N1 flu clinics but the fact of the matter is it’s getting worse.The H1N1 flu virus is here in Moncton and it looks like it’s building fast. I would have to say that the time we were there, there must have been up to 30-40 people in just 2 hours while we were waiting that we seen and we were there for 4 hours and then left after she was seen. Mind you all these people don’t mean they actually have the H1N1 flu virus but people are getting sick and absenteeism in schools is raising. Over the next 2 weeks the H1N1 will be full blown and yet we have a lack of H1N1 vaccine??? Also when we were leaving we ran into a person we know that came in with her daughter and she had all signs and symptoms of H1N1. The H1N1 influenza pandemic is here! On top of that there are two confirmed cases of H1N1 at West Riverview School where the daughter of the woman we know goes to school. It’s getting scary I know and we are all worried about our kids for sure. I believe better planning should have been put forth for this H1N1 pandemic. The sad thing about this is once the numbers start increasing with the amount of people who have the H1N1 flu virus the number will start to double due to exposure with more of the public. I say get on top of this Canada and you make sure you get enough H1N1 vaccine done by the manufacturer as quick as you can. The public has every right to be peeved off on what we’ve all seen from these H1N1 clinics so far.

H1N1 Flu Virus Hits Moncton Schools! Yet Vaccine Only Available Monday?

Well now we have the H1N1 flu virus in local Moncton schools but where is the vaccine? It makes me so angry that Nova Scotia has been giving out H1N1 flu shots but we have yet to open the clinics around here in Moncton for vaccinations. Now parents have a reason to worry as our kids our going to these two Moncton schools that now have 4 confirmed cases of people having the H1N1 flu virus. People have every right to worry. Everything should have been rolled out at the same time. This H1N1 is a pandemic causing parents to be worried especially after the young 13 year old boy died in Ontario.

Why didn’t the Government of New Brunswick open all the vaccination clinics at once? We are behind and the H1N1 is in Moncton. My wife is a Healthcare worker and she is in the priority group but what about myself and our children we are exposed to it. What about the public? We’re all priority. Open the schools for H1N1 vaccinations why the wait. We’re all confused, worried, and in a panic as our kids could be exposed to this deadly H1N1 flu virus. For something we knew about forever we are still behind and the public is in a state of panic as it gets closer to our loved ones, our kids.

I will be the first to admit and I see it in people around Moncton, are we all paranoid now of the H1N1 flu virus? We all wash our hands, we see people cough or sneeze wondering if they are sick with the H1N1 flu and are more cautious then ever. Tonight there was a Halloween party for kids at my wifes work but I was hesitating bringing our children into that environment. We haven’t had the H1N1 flu shot yet and are worried not so much for ourselves but our kids. I will be the first to admit that I don’t use those hand sanitizers ever really until now. This has us all worried. Another thing that goes through my mind is when you meet someone has people changed their habit and are neglecting to shake hands now. I’m probably not the only one to feel like this. Moncton is paranoid over this H1N1 flu virus and we won’t feel safe until we get the vaccine.

The two Moncton schools reported having the H1N1 flu virus are two students and a teacher at Le Mascaret middle school and one female student at the Montessori school. For people who have kids that goes to these schools, your probably wondering is it safer to keep them home. I know I would be, until they get this H1N1 flu virus vaccine. Why is New Brunswick behind on this and Nova Scotia is ahead of the game.

What do you all think, shouldn’t the H1N1 clinics in Moncton, Shediac and surrounding areas have been opened by now? If your kids goes to these two Moncton schools that have the H1N1 flu virus , what are you doing? Keeping them home or sending them to school. Who knows maybe the heavy absenteeism in schools is a direct result of worried parents knowing they’re sick kids at school and trying to protect them until the H1N1 vaccine is ready. I do know that the H1N1 panic is now in Moncton!

Moncton Woman Has H1N1 Flu Virus! 5 More Cases in New Brunswick

Well the H1N1 flu virus is now in Moncton! It is now confirmed that one woman in Moncton does indeed have the H1N1 flu virus and was at the Moncton Hospital. Just yesterday there were 4 more people within New Brunswick that has the H1N1 flu virus. It is official now we have it here in Moncton and many people after hearing this news are getting scared. I don’t blame them! The H1N1 flu pandemic that they have been talking about for months is now in New Brunswick!

Throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia it is reported high levels of absenteeism in schools and now 5 more cases of the H1N1 flu virus. Just to let people know so far there are only 9 reported confirmed cases in New Brunswick since end of April but that doesn’t mean there’s no more. These are only the ones that have been reported.

The Public Health Department are still urging people to get the H1N1 flu shot vaccine and are working the fastest they can and urge people to have patience. This is one of the biggest vaccinations programs in Canadian history and H1N1 flu shots will be given out over the next couple of months. They urge people to take precautions such as washing their hands frequently, coughing or sneezing in their arm instead of their hand and most importantly to stay home if they are feeling sick. If people follow the guidelines this can help stop the spread of the H1N1 flu virus.

Just from my observation is it seems like they were not prepared enough for this and they knew about this for months. What I don’t understand is why didn’t they have all H1N1 vaccination clinics running at the same time?? Instead they have the Public Health Offices trying to vaccinate thousands which you already know leads to 3 hour wait times and people being turned away. Everyone is scared and frightened for their kids and now we have H1N1 confirmed now in Moncton. it’s just going to get worse. If I was coordinating everything I would have had all clinics opened at the same time. This would have eliminated long line ups, better service and less frustrated and worried people. Mind you I would have had this all opened at once provided we had enough H1N1 vaccine to go around. They keep saying they do so why didn’t they have all clinics opened at the same time??? They said they had brought nurses out of retirement to be able to handle doing all the vaccinations so what’s the wait?

Now a Moncton woman does indeed have the H1N1 flu virus and many more people will be rushing down wanting to get this vaccine. Over the next two days I see the panic getting worse for those of you who want to get it. I know they planned as much as they could but I still believe that all H1N1 vaccine clinics should have been opened at once. That was the right call to do!

Lots of people are wondering what are the symptoms of H1N1 flu virus and what are some ways on how you can prevent yourself from getting the swine flu and others. Here I will list some important facts about H1N1 and what you should look out for signs and symptoms especially for young children and pregnant women.

Signs and Symptoms of H1N1 Flu Virus

1.Cough and Fever
2.Fatigue ( always feeling tired)
3.Muscle aches
4.Sore throat
5.Headache
6.Loss of appetite
7.Running nose
8.Vomiting
9.Diarhea
10.Nausea

If you experience any of these please visit the doctor right away. Just recently in Ontario, a 13 year old boy died from the H1N1 just yesterday. He had all the above same symptoms, healthy and the H1N1 hit him fast. Please make sure you watch your children and if in doubt please seek a medical attention to find out if it’s H1N1 or not. Don’t take a chance.

Here are some ways on how you can prevent the H1N1 flu virus or Swine Flu?

One of the best ways in preventing catching the H1N1 flu virus is by washing your hands frequently.
Instead of coughing or sneezing into your hand, cough or sneeze into your arm or sleeve.
If your sick stay home! This will prevent others from catching it until you feel better.
Get the H1N1 flu shot vaccine, this will prevent you from catching the flu virus.
If you experience flu like symptoms for pregnant women or children, seek medical attention.

Hope these symptoms of H1N1 and simple ways to prevent and help protect you from catching the flu virus helps. I know after thinking for many days, hours and longer your best bet is to probably take the chance with getting the H1N1 flu shot. It is against my better judgement but after the young healthy 13 year old boy that died from Ontario yesterday it seems like it could happen to anyone. It just seems like the world is torn and don’t know what to do and it doesn’t help me watching H1N1 videos about doctor saying H1N1 vacine is more deadly then swine flu itself. Some experts won’t even touch it! Lots of people still wondering should I get the H1N1 flu virus vaccine, myself included. The consent form is what worries me, like waiving all your rights in case something happens. If it was really approved we wouldn’t be signing that, would we? We don’t sign anything getting prescriptions etc.. from doctor’s office , do we? Maybe if it wasn’t for that, less people would be worried about getting the H1N1 flu virus vaccine. Just my two cents!

I’ll try and keep everyone up to date on where and when they can get H1N1 flu shots in Moncton and surrounding areas. Despite all the media attention, people are still unsure on what to do whether to get the flu shot or not, I’m sure they’ll still be plenty that say YES to the vaccine. I’m still not sure myself, I may wait and see how and what happens around Moncton first after flu shots have been given.
