Maple Leaf bought Hub Meat Packers in February of 2000 from David Rinzler who opened the plant in 1966. Michael McCain, President of Maple Leaf, originally bought Hub Meat Packers to be more competitive in their market. No changes were expected to occur.

In 2000 Maple Leaf Foods shut down the kill floor at Hub Meat Packers and more workers lost their jobs. Then in 2008 Maple Leaf Foods plants were linked to a listeria outbreak which many people got sick and some were even killed. This was traced to machinery not being cleaned properly and which cost Maple Leaf millions of dollars.

Over the years we can see the changes and challenges Maple Leaf has faced. The decision to close Hub Meat Packers wasn’t done overnight and every possible way was ultimately looked into. Maple Leaf also plans on shutting down 6 more processing facilities and 4 distribution centres. A total of 1550 people are expected to lose their job.

Hub Meat Packers is expected to close it’s doors by 2014. Micheal McCains understands that this is a difficult time for workers learning of the news but it’s necessary to be able to compete in today’s market. Maple Leaf plans on doing everything they can in helping those who will lose their job as a result of the closure of Hub Meat Packers.

The Riverview Fire Department will be collecting any donations which can be dropped off at 650 Pinewood Rd. Staff will be there all week to accept donations whether it be toys, books, cash or gift certificates. Dealing with bad debt such as credit cards is your first step to getting your life back on track. Many people often ask, ” Is it true that any bad debt on my credit report is removed after 6 years?” The answer is, “Yes”. Any bad debt that is on your credit report will stay on there for 6 years. Police have gone into the bar many times but have not found anything illegal going on. Is this truly a legit business.? We all know that at bars illegal activity goes on everyday whether its the customers or sometimes the owners and staff but we only hear about it when someone gets caught. Rest assured I’m sure the RCMP will be checking into this strip club periodically to make sure things are legit.

So I ask you all should Bikini Beach strip club in Moncton be allowed to operate next to Moncton High School? Do you think as long as the owner follows all the laws and regulations of exotic strip clubs he should be allowed to operate in Moncton as long as he’s not in violation of any. This summer I decided to put in a water garden and MacArthurs Nursery in Moncton had all the pond plants and pond fish I was looking for. I was quite impressed with all the pond plants to choose from as well as the high quality fish they had. They had everything from hardy water lilies, marginals and many colourful fish. After talking to one of the employees I guess they get the pond fish from a local supplier right here in Moncton. I never knew they carried pond fish as I always thought that I would have to go buy some from Pets Unlimited. The fish that I decided to buy at MacArthurs were the sarassa comets which are a beautiful snowy white and deep cherry red. They are very colourful in your pond and look amazing! I also had to buy a few koi as the wide variety of colours truly peaked my interest.

With water gardening truly taking off over the last few years and friends having ponds too got me hooked. I like the fact that MacArthurs Nursery had so many things to choose from and had everything I was looking for. MacArthurs Nursery had goldfish, sarassa comets, shubunkins, butterfly koi, koi and blue catfish. I think next year I will buy some blue catfish as I heard they are scavengers are help keep your garden pond clean. They also carry water hyacinths which are a tropical plant but really helps keep your pond clean too.
