Facebook Users Beware! Poking Someone May Send You To Jail!

Well if you haven’t heard already a woman may be going to jail for poking someone on Facebook the popular social networking site. I mean come on! Yes the woman, Shannon D. Jackson who had a restraining order against her should not have done it but to give her a year in jail for a poke on Facebook??? This is really ridiculous but Facebook is loving it, free publicity.

The court order against the woman stated that she was not allowed to do the following: no telephoning, contacting or otherwise communicating with the petitioner. Apparently this is a violation of the order and it could land her 11 months and 29 days in jail and possibly a fine of up to $2500. She was arrested and her bond was set at $1500.

Poking Someone On Facebook May Land You In Jail!

Think of how much time is being wasted over this issue. I do not take the fact away that Shannon D. Jackson should never of poked the woman on Facebook but come on. Waste of time, and how much did this poke really affect this woman. We do not know how many times the accused actually poked the woman on Facebook but if it was only once then whatever. Repeatedly then their may be grounds but what ever happened to warnings. On top of that as I was looking online at what people were saying about this issue a person wrote somewheres a very important fact. On Facebook, the popular social networking site, people have to block people from getting poked. So if you think of it, this person actually authorized the poke to happen. If she did not want any communication from the accused, she should have blocked her completely from Facebook but apparently she did not. I believe the person that filed the court order was just waiting to catch her on Facebook, I believed the accused was set up as the other woman did not delete her as a friend. She was just waiting for the moment.

Regardless I think this is a complete waste of time, it wasn’t a threatening email, or any communication from the accused really. It was a poke that was sent by Facebook! Ridiculous and a waste of time and money.

So what do you think of this issue? Should the woman be sent to jail over a poke on Facebook? How do you think this situation could be handled differently. Also is the accused to blame or was the victim just trying to get pay back and making something of nothing? Lets hear your thoughts on this Facebook issue.
